Loved and Cherished for Centuries: Catholic Jewelry

When kings and other nobles controlled most of the land throughout Europe, they often made a point of wearing some type of Catholic jewelry. Later, as they became less powerful, members of the general public acquired enough resources to purchase such lovely accessories. Today, Roman Catholics continue to display the strength of their religious beliefs by wearing accessories with Catholic symbols.
Catholic Jewelry
The crucifix has to be viewed as one of the most important symbols in the Roman Catholic Church. Each structure in which Roman Catholics gather to worship is supposed to display the thirteen Stations of the Cross. When the crucifix becomes part of a pendant, it can contain some of the most unique materials. For example, it might be a silver crucifix inlaid with olive wood, or a silver Jesus on an olive wood cross.

Whenever a simple cross has been used as a pendant, it might display the work of a skillful artisan. For example, it could have engraved or etched symbols on its surface. It might even have some impressive scrolled designs along its borders.

One piece of jewelry goes with every Roman Catholic whenever he or she enters a place of worship, one decorated with the thirteen Stations of the Cross. That is a rosary, something that is usually either a necklace or a bracelet.  Sometimes a rosary contains a silver cross along with black matt beads. As a bracelet, it could be a band of sandalwood beads with silver accents. As a necklace it might have a yellow gold or white gold chain.

Korloff Jewelry Designs

Among all of the Korloff Jewelry Designs, a jewelry reviewer would find it next to impossible to select the one collection that displayed the single most distinctive feature. All of the Korloff jewelry collections show an element of uniqueness in their design.
Korloff Diamond Necklaces

In the collection called “Elements of Silver,” the combination of gold and silver contributes to the uniqueness of each piece of jewelry. One combination of gold and silver has become the focus of the “button earrings.” Another combination of gold and silver surrounds a triangular stone, a stone which is also part of the “Elements of Silver” collection.

Korloff Diamond Jewelry

The Cancun and Volupte collections contain pieces of jewelry with dazzling diamonds. In some pieces, those diamonds have been lined-up in a channel. That channel of diamonds might appear in a metal loop, in a circle around a gemstone or even abutting a second channel of diamonds.

The pieces in the Transparence collection take full advantage of the richness of light. Those pieces contain a transparent surface surrounded by a ring of diamonds. Both the surface and the diamonds reflect the light that hits that piece of jewelry.

Korloff Gold Necklaces

Among all of the Korloff jewelry designs, the jewelry pieces in the Yasmine collection are by far the most colorful. The colors of fuschia, rose, violet, orange, turquoise, noir, gris and bleu can all be found among the pieces of jewelry in the Yasmine collection.

Korloff’s “Sweety rings” also come in different colors. There are lavender rings, pink rings and turquoise rings. While the color of each ring may make that ring stand-out among other rings, the color is not the ring’s only distinguishing feature. Each of the “Sweety rings” has a distinctive design.

The array of different designs within the “Signature Gold” collection can not go unmentioned. Some of the pieces in that collection have been fashioned from white gold, others from yellow gold. Some of those gold ring designs feature a wide band; other rings have been designed around a narrow band.

Each of the pieces in the “Portfolio” collection creates an air of synergy. The design seems to yield to the characteristics of any diamonds within that design. One finds that same synergy in Korloff’s heart-shaped pendants.

While most of the Korloff jewelry designs have the potential to hold more than one diamond, there are pieces that have a solitaire diamond. Among the Diamond Solitaire earrings one can find earrings with three different shapes. Some are square; some are round; and some are shaped to resemble a flower bud. Larger diamonds can be found on Korloff’s Solitaire Rings.

Korloff Yasmine Collection

Not all of the Korloff jewelry designs have been created with an eye to the tastes of female customers. Today, a man can purchase an I.D bracelet with a unique Korloff design. A man can hold his money together in a clip with a Korloff design.

A man can decorate the bottoms of his shirt sleeves with cuff links that show-off an element of the Korloff design। He can even adorn his neck with a dog tag that displays a Korloff jewelry design.

The Many Meanings Of Gemstone Pendants

When people are looking for a piece of jewelry that has personal and emotional meaning to them many turn to family heirlooms like rings or bracelets but there are also many gemstone pendants that offer a sentimental value as well and are as cherished as any other piece of jewelry. Gemstones have many different meanings and gemstone pendants can be used to represent so many different milestones in life or just a significant life event in general. Many people put many different meanings behind certain pieces of jewelry and the use of precious stones in pendants is one way to commemorate a milestone.

Blue Topaz Pendants

There are many meanings behind many precious gems and throughout the years precious gems have been attached to many different life milestones and that makes them easier to give as gifts or as family heirlooms. For example a diamond is considered the birth stone for the month of April so many people that are born in April will commemorate that by wearing a gemstone pendant that is made from a diamond. In many cases people will choose gemstone pendants based not just on the month they were born but to represent their heritage. Emeralds are extremely popular stones and many people will wear them as gemstone pendants to either commemorate their May birth date or their Irish heritage. Emeralds seem to be almost as popular as diamonds in gemstone pendants and that could be due to their deep green color or their clean cut when they are cut into a stone to be mounted. July has the ruby as a birthstone and the ruby is also a very popular precious gem to be included in a gemstone pendant not just for people that are born in July but also for people that just love the ruby. Some people will also use the birth stone chart to commemorate other things like wedding months. It is becoming popular to present a ruby as a gemstone pendant to your significant other if your anniversary is in July. Any occasion to give a gemstone pendant is a good occasion.

Blue Sapphire Pendant

Precious gems are also attached to other milestones like marriage anniversaries. For example the tenth wedding anniversary is usually signified by a diamond so many wives look forward to receiving some sort of diamond gemstone pendant for their tenth wedding anniversary and many husbands dread having to purchase the tenth wedding anniversary diamond gemstone pendant. Just to make it interesting the wedding anniversary gemstone list goes all the way out to the 80th wedding anniversary and the diamond is revisited at the 75th anniversary with the ruby being the 80th anniversary stone. It just boggles the mind.

Many families choose certain gemstones as their family stone and create gemstone pendants as family heirlooms that get handed down from generation to generation. In many cases the stone is made part of a family crest that is in the form of a pendant and the gem is the centerpiece of the crest. Some of the best examples of this is the crown jewels of the British royal family. Not everyone can afford to have a collection like the British royal family but if you are going to use a model for something you might as well model yours after the best and see how close you can really get to near perfection.
